I'd been wanting to try this mascara out for a while, since I've heard so many people rave about how vulumptious it has made their lashes. So when a friend bought it me for my birthday I was so excited to try it out, and I can't believe how thick my lashes look!

I got this in 2 Rich Brown and it really is a rich, dark brown as you can see in the picture below. I'm extremely happy with the colour that it applies, as some of my other brown mascaras aren't as dark and natural in colour as this one. Such as Maybelline's volume express mascara, which is a much lighter shade of brown.

I find that this shade matches perfectly to Diors Brun intense pencil eyeliner, and goes well with brown and purple eye shadows.

The packaging is typical of YSL, it comes in a sleek golden tube which has YSL engraved on the side, and the lid is a lighter shade of gold to the rest of the packaging. The application brush is long with lots of small soft fibre bristles to allow the mascara to easily penetrate into the roots to add volume without causing irritation (which I seem to get with the hard plastic bristles).

The formula isn't clumpy at all, its fairly creamy and doesn't seem to gunk up on the rim of the tube unlike some other mascaras that I have previously used. I found that just one coat of this gave my lashes enough volume for a daytime look. But when I applied the second coat I saw why it was such a highly rated product. The volume I got from this mascara looked almost as if I had false eyelashes on, It felt like I'd suddenly grown a fringe of thick dark eyelashes.
